This will be achieved by seven activities covering the following scope:
Focusing on the role of political parties as vehicles for public participation at local, national and European level. Two of the activities will be international events that examine pan-European political party trends and integration of national-level partiers in European political groups, as well as discussing new trends of public participation, in particular – fringe or one issue parties.
Debating Euroscepticism and populism as both a threat to democracy and an opportunity to develop a new, modern ways of communicating with voters and achieving higher participation in decision-making process at local, national and European levels. PROVIDUS will devote its main international annual event to the subject.
Activities studying best practices of public participation, ways to enhance a favourable environment for civic participation at local, national and EU levels, and linking EU policy decisions with national policy decisions. In particular, this will be the focus of a regional workshop which will, among other issues, look at implementation of Open Government Partnership as a framework for good governance and best practice of civic engagement.
Activities addressing the future of Europe, European values and potential threats to those values, euroscepticism and populism, as well as controversial issues at the top of the European debate (such as migration, populism, intolerance, solidarity, women’s rights and so on). These will be addressed by series of public and Chatham-house style debates, civic society and activist networking events and training sessions for citizen journalists.
