Is it time for the social security policy to change? Is the universal basic income a good way to replace the benefit system? Is it not going to create an even bigger gap between the poor and the rich? Can universal basic income promote job mobility and encourage people to acquire new skills? Is it a solution for the shrinking job market due to the development of the artificial intelligence? What is the international experience?

To seek answers to these questions, Friedrich Ebert Foundation Baltic States and Public Policy Centre PROVIDUS invite you to participate in a discussion whether unconditional basic income is an appropriate way to decrease poverty and inequality on 8 May from 18:00 to 20:00 at The Mill, Brīvības ielā 33, Rīga.

The debate will be opened by Dr. Tobias Mörschel, Director Friedrich Ebert Foundation Baltic States and introduced by Dr. Christian Krell, Director of the Nordic Office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Stockholm.
