ABSTRACT
The study researches the participation of women in entrepreneurship and high-level management in Latvia, identifies problems in the inequality of rights for women, and determines the obstacles to the development of equal rights. The study is based upon statistics and the opinions of women involved in business and interviewed or surveyed by the study’s authors. The authors conclude that the fact that women have unequal rights in the business world is taken for granted, therefore a realisation of the problem is an essential step towards a solution. In researching possible solutions, the authors introduce the case of Sweden, as well as information gathered about past initiatives to solve the problem in Latvia.
