Corruption coverage in Latvian media: Four case studies

What does Latvia’s media landscape look like in the European context? And how does corruption coverage differ in Latvia? Providus is publishing a new report covering four case studies on corruption involving journalists in Latvia.

The report looks at the investigative journalism of magazine IR on corruption in the context of insolvency proceedings, media reporting on Jurmalgate (most popular case in three out of four media outlets analysed for the study), kompromat internet portals, as well as wiretapping and leaking of journalist’s phone conversations. The four cases have been chosen to better show the diversity of interactions between media and corruption and to cover incidents that have not been looked at in depth before.

This report is part of case study reports of the large-scale project ANTICORRP funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme. Find out more about the project here.
